Designing the prison system

The Colonial Architect played a key role in the design of public buildings in the Colony from the time of Governor Macquarie onwards. This plan of a modest wooden four-room lockup for a small settlement in the northern New England district shows the same care and attention to detail as given to the grandest structures in Sydney.
